LLOYD DELPRATT

Lloyd DelprattHarbourfront Centre, Toronto I In the late '60's / early '70's Jamaican immigrants to Toronto created a thriving reggae/ska/soul/funk scene. Musicians such as Jackie Mittoo, Alton Ellis, Wayne McGhie, Lord Tanamo, Lynn Taitt, Leroy Sibbles, and Stranger Cole all spent time in Toronto. The scene was largely ignored by the mainstream media, until now. Light In The Attic Records released Jamaica to Toronto earlier this month, and all-star cast of performers made their apperance at Harbourfront on Saturday. There's a good review of the album here. (Incidentally, Harbourfront doesn't like it when you take photos using "professional looking" cameras without permission. This is the only shot I could get away before Security showed up).
