QUEEN STREET
Queen Street West, Toronto I Queen Street West has been undergoing a slow and steady gentrification since the 1980's. A critical point was reached in the past year as 6 different buildings were demolished for redevelopment. The city has recently identified the street as a Heritage Conservation District Study Area. Many of the proposed new buildings are designed for retail uses alone. Eliminating the apartments which the old buildings contained will sap the street of part of its vitality. The shape and form of the new development will define Queen Street for generations to come. This series of shots was taken in April of 2006.
