Papal Audience HallVatican City I The Papal Audience Hall was complete by Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi in 1971, and is used by the Pope for his Wednesday audiences with the public. I spent a couple of hours here one morning in 1993 waiting for Pope John Paul II. This is a cropped shot of the characteristic ceiling (scanned from some really damaged negatives).
