PAPAL AUDIENCE HALL
prev I next Vatican City I  The Papal Audience Hall was complete by Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi in 1971, and is used by the Pope for his Wednesday audiences with the public.  I spent a couple of hours here one morning in 1993 waiting for Pope John Paul II.  This is a cropped shot of the characteristic ceiling (scanned from some really damaged negatives).
