Montgomery Mills24 Mabelle Avenue, Toronto I One of the apartment towers between the historic village of Islington and Islington subway station. This one is 34 stories tall, and designed by Bregman + Hamann Architects. The colourful balconies caught my eye.

STUMP

StumpTemperance Street, (west of Bay Street), Toronto I The Bay Adelaide Tower was designed by WZMH architects in the 1980's. (I still remember the pyramid top from the renderings!) Construction halted in 1993 when the recession hit the Toronto office market, leaving the concrete elevator tower only 8 stories tall. A new building is now proposed for the site, and demolition of the stump has started.

Lafayette TowersLafayette Park, Detroit I Part of a large urban-renewal complex completed in 1965, the Lafayette Towers were designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. This shot was scanned from a slide taken in 2000. We're off to Vancouver for the next week, so most of the shots will come from my back catalog until we return.
